Paul D’Arcy is a highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic rising star amongst the training ranks. From starting with two horses in 1998, he has built up a small, but very high quality string, achieving Listed, Group and Classic success. Paul constantly strives to find those good horses. He knows how to get the best out of a horse and has a good eye for a yearling. He bought INDIAN HAVEN as a yearling at Tattersalls October Sales for 62,000 guineas and trained him to win the 2003 Irish 2000 Guineas and the Free Handicap. He also bought FOREST MAGIC at the same sale for 28,000 guineas and trained him to win the Listed Zetland Stakes as a two year old. Paul bought LADY HIGH HAVENS for 50,000 guineas as a yearling and she went on to be sold for 230,000 guineas at Tattersalls December Sales. Paul knows the importance of black type to the owner-breeders of fillies and has achieved it for Greenstead Hall Racing's SUZI'S DECISION, Jan Harris's KYLAYNE and TI ADORA, Lady Carolyn Warren’s TORA BORA and Lord Derby’s CIRCLE OF LIGHT and LADY HIGH HAVENS, so narrowly beaten in the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes by David Loder’s Silent Honour. Paul still brings his valuable years of experience as a jockey to bear when riding work on his own team of horses. The years spent riding top class horses for Sir Michael Stoute, Barry Hills and Sir Mark Prescott such as SINGSPIEL, EZZOUD, ROCK HOPPER, and HAWAIIAN SOUND enable Paul to accurately assess a horse’s ability. Paul values any owner who wants the best for their horse and wants to be totally involved in the highs and lows of this marvellous game of horseracing. He knows the importance of good communication between himself and owners and is always accessible to them. Owners are always extremely welcome to see their horses at any time.
